While New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye made a case for NFL MVP by guiding his team to a 14-3 record and the No. 2 seed in the AFC, his wife, Ann Michael Maye, became a star of her own through her viral “Bakemas” videos on TikTok.
As the NFL playoffs begin this weekend with the wild-card round, both Drake and Ann Michael have opportunities coming up to show their talents on a bigger stage. The Patriots will host Justin Herbert and the No. 7 Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
As for Drake Maye’s high school sweetheart, NBC Sports Boston gave her the opportunity to bring her baking skills to a new audience.
On Thursday, Ann Michael announced that she finished filming “Beyond Bakemas” in a video posted to Instagram by the local NBC affiliate. She shared the video on her Instagram story.
“Hi everyone, it’s Ann Michael Maye here,” she said. “I’m here in the kitchen at NBC Sports Boston. Just finished filming my baking show ‘Beyond Bakemas.’ I’m so excited for you guys all to see it, so be sure to stay tuned in.”
NBC Sports Boston captioned the post “Coming soon,” but there is no official release date set for Maye’s new show at the time of publishing.
The 22-year-old’s relationship with Drake Maye goes back over a decade and followed the star quarterback from Myers Park High School in Charlotte to the University of North Carolina all the way to the NFL. They started dating in 2015 and got married last June after she graduated from UNC. Her subsequent move to New England was a boost for Maye this season.
“She’s been awesome,” Drake Maye said in a December interview. “She’s been a great addition up here for me. Getting married in the offseason, her coming up here to live in Boston. She’s from the South, [has] Southern charm.”
Maye supports his wife’s passion for baking. It has helped her connect with over 300,000 followers on TikTok and opened doors for new career opportunities like the cooking show and a partnership with Ninja. This month, Ann Michael is transitioning from the sweet treats of “Bakemas” to a healthy cooking series in January.
“She’s just being herself, and I love her for it,” Drake said of Ann Michael. “I tell her that all the time. ‘Don’t change for anything.’ I think she deserves all the support.”
