Eagles Strike Fast, Sign 2x Pro Bowl DE Just 12 Hours After Dolphins Release
Philadelphia didn’t blink.
Just hours after news broke that the Miami Dolphins were moving on from a former franchise cornerstone, the Eagles were already on the phone.
According to ESPN sources, Philadelphia successfully negotiated a two-year deal with a proven edge rusher, less than 12 hours after his release.
The message was clear: the Eagles are not waiting around this offseason.
With Jaelan Phillips headed toward free agency and questions lingering about depth along the defensive front, the front office moved aggressively.
The opportunity to add a 2x Pro Bowl defensive end without surrendering draft capital was simply too good to ignore.
And that opportunity came in the form of Bradley Chubb
. The 29-year-old pass rusher brings experience, leadership, and production.
In 2025, he recorded 8.5 sacks while playing all 17 games, proving he can still impact games at a high level. Earlier in his career, he posted an 11-sack season and has accumulated 48 career sacks since being drafted fifth overall in 2018.
In Philadelphia, he won’t need to play every snap. The Eagles can rotate him at roughly 55–60 percent of defensive snaps, maximizing his explosiveness while protecting his durability. A situationally fresh Chubb lining up opposite an already talented defensive line could be a nightmare for NFC East quarterbacks.
Sources indicate contract details have not yet been publicly disclosed.
Chubb reportedly told those close to him after the agreement:
“Philly’s built different. That city demands toughness, and I’m ready to give them everything I’ve got. Let’s go chase something special in midnight green.”
That’s the kind of quote Eagles fans live for.
The move also signals Philadelphia’s continued commitment to competing now, not later. While some teams hesitate after injury history, the Eagles see upside, especially on a short-term deal structured for flexibility.
Near the end of negotiations, team sources confirmed that Chubb is currently pending a medical evaluation. The agreement will be finalized once he successfully completes his physical.
If cleared, the Eagles may have just added more than depth.
They may have added firepower.
