An update on Aaron Rodgers’ future has emerged today, as reports confirm that the Steelers are interested in the veteran quarterback.
Rodgers is finishing his first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Questions about retirement have followed him all year, and Recent comments suggest another season remains possible.
During the NFL GameDay broadcast, Ian Rapoport shared insight into Rodgers’ mindset. Rapoport pointed to a visible embrace between Rodgers and Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin.
“Everybody wants to know about Aaron Rodgers’ future, but you saw that embrace between Aaron Rodgers and Mike Tomlin,” Rapoport said. “That is real. Both of them have enjoyed the other this season.
“In fact, Rodgers actually began the season – openly stating that he believed it would be his last year, except it’s gone so well in Pittsburgh. He’s showed enough offensively, he’s enjoyed his time in the locker room, that he is now open to returning for another season.”
According to Rapoport, Rodgers is now open to returning, and the Steelers have already made a decision. They would welcome him back if he chose that path.
“[Per] my understanding, the Steelers would welcome this,” Rapoport said. “A lot of time to go. We’ll see what ends up happening. On Monday, see how Rodgers feels after the season. The hope would be an answer sooner rather than later, but certainly both sides, it seems, would be open to a reunion.”

Rodgers is preparing for his 12th playoff appearance, and the Steelers face the Houston Texans on Monday in the wild-card round. Pittsburgh finished the season 10-7 and won the AFC North.
On the field, Rodgers delivered steady production for the Steelers. He threw for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns. He made limited mistakes with seven interceptions. His completion rate stayed near 66 percent, and late-season play helped Pittsburgh win key games to qualify.
This season, the Steelers have relied on balance and defense. They allowed fewer than 23 points per game. Offense improved late, led by Rodgers’ experience. If the 42-year-old returns for a 22nd season, Pittsburgh is ready.
