Eagles’ A.J. Brown Wants to Stay Long-Term in Philly, Publicly Defends Kevin Patullo and Fires Back at Fans

Posted February 8, 2026

In his first interview in two months, A.J. Brown spoke positively about returning to the Eagles for the 2026 season.

Appearing on Micah Parsons’ podcast alongside Bryce Young, Brown spoke publicly for the first time since Dec. 8 in the visiting locker room at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, after the Eagles lost to the Chargers 22-19. (

You can watch the full video interview below) Parsons never asked Brown specifically about reports that he requested a trade multiple times during the 2025 season or about his frustration during the season or even about whether Brown wants to stay with the Eagles, but he did give Brown a couple opportunities to address his future, and Brown spoke positively each time about being here.

He didn’t sound like someone who wants to be traded.

Parsons asked what the goal is for the offseason and Brown’s answer sure seemed to come from a person who plans on being a Philadelphia Eagle in 2026.

“Yeah, as an offense, we just come back and just really watch the tape and rediscover ourselves and go to work each and every day,” he said. “Being accountable and just taking one day at a time.

“We have great leaders in our locker room and I’m fortunate to be a part of that, especially on offense. And we do have a lot of talent, but talent gets us nowhere. So it’s all about being detailed and being disciplined.”

Parsons asked Brown if he’s excited about changes on the coaching staff without specifically mentioning offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo being replaced by Sean Mannion.

“I’m always excited,” he said. “You know, sometimes change is not a bad thing. I have the utmost respect for K.P. To me, he did a tremendous job, and he has a great heart. But I’m excited for the season. I’m excited for what’s to come.”

Parsons asked Brown about getting traded to the Eagles from the Titans during draft weekend 2022, and he had nothing remotely negative to say about his four years with the Eagles.

“When I got to Philly, man, Philly welcomed me with open arms,” he said. “That’s home, man, and I love them. I love the support, I love the accountability, I love everything else that they do. But it just, I love it.

“Philly is Philly. You have to be there to understand.”

Brown had a disappointing season and before he stopped speaking to the media he often expressed his frustration with the offense and his place in it.

Brown got off to a very slow start. After nine games, he was 37th among WRs with just 408 yards. But he still finished with with 1,003 yards, 18th-most in the league and his fourth straight 1,000-yard season. He caught only three passes for 25 yards with three awful drops in the wild-card loss to the 49ers. .

“You have good days, you have bad days,” Brown said. “And unfortunately, that day was a bad day. I know Niners fans are happy, but it was just a bad day. It was a bad day on offense, but you look back on those things and you’re grateful because you’d be grateful for the highs and the lows because you get a chance to rediscover yourself.

“And I know me personally, I’m excited to get back in the lab and better myself each and every day and grow. And then you see what you see when you see me.”

The other notable thing to come out of the podcast, filmed before a live audience somewhere in or near San Francisco over the last couple days, was Parsons claiming he nearly became an Eagle before the Cowboys traded him to the Packers.

But he said he nixed the trade because the Cowboys were demanding Jalen Carter from the Eagles as part of any deal, and Parsons didn’t want to play for the Eagles unless Carter were here.

Feel free to believe any or all of this story.

“To be honest with you, bro, it was very close,” Parsons said. “It was very close to being the Eagles. Before the Jaelen Phillips (trade), it was me. Yeah, it was me and I was really about to come but there was one person that I had to play with that if he was gone I did not want to be there, and that was Jalen Carter. They wanted a defensive tackle. And they wanted to trade me plus some picks. I don’t really care about the picks, but I’m coming to play next to J.C., you feel me?

“So, sorry, Cowboys fans. It really almost happened.”
