Lions Make Jahmyr Gibbs Post After Myles Garrett’s Message – SSS

The Detroit Lions climbed to 3–1 on the season Sunday with a commanding 34–10 win over the Cleveland Browns at Ford Field. Detroit dominated in all three phases — Jared Goff led a sharp offense, Amon-Ra St. Brown torched the secondary, and Aidan Hutchinson spearheaded a relentless defense. By halftime, the Lions were up 20–7 and never looked back, sealing their third straight victory and proving they’re a serious NFC contender.

Although the Detroit Lions are shaping up as a legitimate NFC contender while the Cleveland Browns continue to wrestle with quarterback instability — scoring just 23 total points across their last two outings — the spotlight in Week 4 wasn’t on offensive struggles. It was on the clash of strengths: Myles Garrett and the NFL’s top-ranked run defense against a Lions rushing attack that has been building steam every week.

Coming into Sunday, Cleveland’s defensive front looked nearly impenetrable, allowing just 57.3 rushing yards per game through three weeks. When Detroit offensive coordinator John Morton stirred the pot midweek by telling The Athletic’s Colton Pouncy, “I don’t think they’ve seen a run game like ours yet,” Garrett didn’t let it pass quietly. The All-Pro edge rusher fired back: “He’s entitled to his opinion. He hasn’t seen a defensive front like ours… we have the privilege to see who’s right.”

On Sunday at Ford Field, the answer became clear. It was Detroit.

The Lions imposed their will in the trenches, piling up 109 rushing yards and silencing Cleveland’s vaunted defensive front. Jahmyr Gibbs, the explosive third-year back out of Alabama, led the way with 91 yards on 15 carries, averaging a blistering 6.1 yards per attempt. Every time Gibbs touched the ball, he seemed to slice through the Browns’ defense with acceleration and vision that left defenders flat-footed. Meanwhile, Detroit’s offensive line turned in a flawless performance, not allowing a single sack as quarterback Jared Goff operated with comfort and poise in the pocket.

After the game, Detroit’s social media team wasted no time throwing shade at Garrett’s pregame comments. They posted a stat highlighting that Gibbs had more rushing yards on Sunday (91) than entire offenses had managed against the Browns in previous weeks — including the Bengals (46), Ravens (45), and Packers (81). It was as much a victory lap as it was a mic drop.

This was more than just a good game for Gibbs. It was another step in what is quickly becoming one of the league’s most impressive résumés for a young running back. Drafted 12th overall in 2023, Gibbs has already earned two Pro Bowl selections in his first two seasons, and in 2025 he looks sharper than ever. Through four games this season, he has 58 carries for 271 yards and four touchdowns, along with 20 receptions for 79 yards as a versatile pass-catching weapon. His blend of speed, vision, and elusiveness is giving Detroit a true game-changer in the backfield — something the franchise hasn’t consistently had since Barry Sanders.

Head coach Dan Campbell praised Gibbs and the offensive line after the win, pointing out how their physicality set the tone. “That’s the identity we want,” Campbell said. “We knew it would be a heavyweight fight up front, and our guys answered the bell. Gibbs is special, but it starts with the men blocking for him. Today, they showed they can go toe-to-toe with anyone in this league.”

Defensively, Detroit was equally relentless, holding Cleveland to just 10 points while forcing multiple stalled drives. Though much of the narrative centered on Gibbs, the Lions’ defense once again proved it’s more than capable of backing up the offense’s fireworks.

With three straight victories after dropping their opener to Green Bay, the Lions are quickly becoming one of the NFL’s most complete teams — tough in the trenches, explosive on offense, and confident in their identity. Fans inside Ford Field could sense it, chanting “One Pride” as the game wound down, fully aware this team feels different than past Lions squads.

Next week, Campbell’s group will face another test as they travel to take on the short-handed Cincinnati Bengals, who are dealing with injuries of their own. For Detroit, though, momentum is real, swagger is growing, and with Gibbs emerging as a true star, the ceiling for this team feels higher than ever.
